Cast: news anchor, co-anchor, reporter,

. (You can have one person saying all verses,
. or split them up as needed. You can also
. choose not to use all of the verses.)
Set & Props: 3 microphones (at least one handheld).
. You can have a news desk with 2 chairs.
. Scripts for news anchors.
SCRIPT:
(NEWS ANCHOR and CO-ANCHOR sit at their desks,
or stand off to the side, and begin their news blurb.)
ANCHOR Good evening, and welcome to the
. six o’clock news. I’m (name),
. and this is my co-anchor (name).
CO-ANCHOR Bringing you the news –
. that matters most to you.
ANCHOR And because you, the viewers, matter to us,
. we make sure to read all your comments
. and requests.
CO-ANCHOR And many of you have been asking
. to hear news which is more positive.
ANCHOR Indeed, so much of the news today
. is very negative.
CO-ANCHOR It’s always great to hear
. something hopeful for a change.
ANCHOR So we sent our faithful street report, (name),
. out into the streets of (name of community)
. in search of some positive, hopeful news.
(REPORTER steps out on the other side 2
with a handheld microphone.)
REPORTER Hi, this is (name) reporting to you live
. from (name of street/s)
. in (name of community).
ANCHOR Hi (name), so can you tell us if you have
. found anything positive over there?
REPORTER I have! I found a community of people who
. have good news to share to the world.
ANCHOR Wow! Sounds like a huge story?
. So are their sources reliable?
. And do we know if their news is true?
REPORTER They say it is directly from the Bible.
CO-ANCHOR Oh, you can’t find a more truthful
. or dependable source than that!
. That’s like – God speaking directly to us.
ANCHOR So (name), do these people have
. a Bible with them?
REPORTER No (name), but they are all direct witnesses
. to this event, and claim they have many
. verses memorized.
ANCHOR Is THAT even reliable?
CO-ANCHOR Well, I memorized a verse when I was younger,
. and I still remember it. It goes:
. “I will meditate on Thy precepts,
. and regard Thy ways,
. I shall delight in Thy statues;
. I shall not forget Thy word.” Psalm 119:12
ANCHOR Well, let’s hear the good news,
. then, shall we.
(PEOPLE walk past in order and time to say their verses.
You can have the same person do more than one verse,
or all of the verses if you want. While people recite
each verse, REPORTER holds out the microphone to them.)
REPORTER Hi there, you said you have
. some good news...
PERSON 1 “For all have sinned and fall short 3
. of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23.
ANCHOR Ah, that’s not such good news, (name).
. That’s doom and gloom for every person
. out there. Surely there’s one person
. out there who is good.
REPORTER Well, let’s check out that fact.
PERSON 2 James 2:10 says “For whoever keeps
. the whole law and yet stumbles in one point,
. he has become guilty of all.”
CO-ANCHOR Is there any hope, then, (name)?
REPORTER Let’s find out. Here is someone
. to report on that.
PERSON 3 Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates
. His own love toward us, in that while
. we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
ANCHOR We’re still talking about death here.
. How can THIS death be good news?
REPORTER (to P4) Have anything to add to this?
PERSON 4 “For the wages of sin is death,
. but the free gift of God is eternal life
. in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
CO-ANCHOR See, now that’s better.
. It can’t get any better than eternal life.
ANCHOR Okay, but they’re still talking about death.
. How does this exactly work?
. What is the news on that?
PERSON 5 1 John 4:10 says “In this is love,
. not that we loved God,
. but that He loved us and sent His Son
. to be the propitiation for our sins.”
CO-ANCHOR So Jesus’s death can be payment for our sins?
REPORTER That’s exactly right. But news has it,
. each person must decide for themselves
. if they will ask for this forgiveness
. for their sins.

PERSON 6 “For God so loved the world
. that He gave His only begotten Son,
. that whoever believes in Him should not
. perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
REPORTER What exactly does that mean we should do?
PERSON 7 “That if you confess with your mouth
. that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart
. that God raised Him from the dead,
. you will be saved. For with the heart
. one believes, resulting in righteousness,
. and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
. For the Scripture says, ‘Everyone who
. believes in Him will not be disappointed.’
. For there is no distinction between Jew
. and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all,
. bestowing His riches on all who call on Him.
. For ‘everyone who calls on the name
. of the Lord will be saved.’ Romans 10:9-13
CO-ANCHOR Wow! That is good news! For EVERYONE!
ANCHOR Am I hearing right? Besides eternal life
. with God, one will also get God’s riches?
REPORTER Apparently, it also comes with
. a guaranteed inheritance.
PERSON 8 “In Him you also, when you heard the word
. of truth, the gospel of your salvation,
. and believed in Him, were sealed
. with the promised Holy Spirit,
. who is the guarantee of our inheritance
. until we acquire possession of it,
. to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:13-14
ANCHOR Sounds too good to be true. Anything more?
PERSON 9 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
. he is a new creation. The old has
. passed away; behold, the new has come.
. 2 Corinthians 5:17
REPORTER And there’s more.
PERSON 10 Romans 5:1 says “Therefore having been
. justified by faith, we have peace with God
. through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

CO-ANCHOR Peace! That’s something we don’t
. hear about a whole lot.
ANCHOR And are you sure this is all free?
REPORTER The word on the street says it is.
PERSON 11 “For by grace you have been saved
. through faith. And this is not
. your own doing; it is the gift of God,
. not a result of works, so that no one
. may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
CO-ANCHOR So there is a good reason why it is free.
. I’ve never heard such good news.
ANCHOR And how can one be so sure that they
. have all of this? Where is the proof?
REPORTER I came across these witnesses with
. their personal testimonies.
PERSON 12 “By this we know that we abide in Him
. and He in us, because He has given us
. of His Spirit.” 1 John 4:13.
PERSON 13 And “Though you have not seen Him,
. you love Him. Though you do not now see Him,
. you believe in Him and rejoice with joy
. that is inexpressible and filled with glory,
. obtaining the outcome of your faith,
. the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8-9
REPORTER This has been (name), in (community name),
. with the good news from the people themselves.
ANCHOR Thank you for that (name). And this has been
. (name) and (name) –
CO-ANCHOR Hoping that this good news
. keeps spreading worldwide.
